General Description:

The Assistant Director is responsible for all financial management aspects of the agency. This role provides leadership and coordination in the administrative, operating, budgeting, financial planning, and accounting efforts of the agency. Key responsibilities include finance, human resources, data collection and analysis for academic programs, and creating an educational community that nurtures and challenges students to learn their ancestors’ culture, become bilingual citizens of Louisiana, and realize their potential.

Exemplary Job Duties

Finance and Administration

  • Support the Principal/Director in developing the annual operating budget.

  • Prepare reports for various legislative committees and testify at hearings.

  • Coordinate the implementation of the annual operating budget.

  • Advises management in financial areas.

  • Provide periodic financial updates to the EPAC Board of Directors.

  • Participates as an active member of the Administrative Leadership Team.

  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system.  

  • Supervise the purchasing process ensuring that all purchases are made in accordance with State of Louisiana purchasing laws and regulations.

  • Supervise the accounts payable function including approval of all payments.

  • Supervise the accounting functions ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Supervise the payroll functions ensuring all employees are paid properly, timely, and in accordance with state and federal guidelines.

  • Serve as Director of Human Resources to ensure employee master records are properly maintained and reviewed for accuracy. 

  • Act as the agency travel coordinator.

  • Maintain liaisons with appropriate state offices.

  • Coordinate with the CFO on all agency financial audits.

  • Provide internal audit functions for the agency, as needed. 

Attend school board meetings to provide reports as needed.  

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Board in order to achieve and accomplish the school’s mission and objectives. 

Academics and Curriculum Development

  • Support the development of mission-aligned academic vision and strategic plan.

  • Support the implementation of the curriculum mapping to align the Louisiana Student Standards and grounded in local Bayou Cajun and Indian culture.

  • Coordinate vendor and service contracts for curriculum/teaching materials in accordance with the allotted budget approved by the Board and manages the academic budget.

  • Recognize, model, and promote effective teaching strategies that enable students to apply what they learn to real world experiences.

  • Encourage and support the use of both innovative, research-based teaching strategies to engage students actively in solving complex problems and methods of student assessment which will enhance learning for all students.

  • Foster a caring, growth-oriented environment for faculty and students, one in which high expectations and high standards for student achievement are emphasized.

  • Gather, analyze, and report data as needed for student growth and development.  

School Culture(Along with Director)

  • Attend and provide consultation at grade level, arts discipline, or other team meetings as requested/able.

  • Actively participate in school-wide crisis planning and response

  • Plan and deliver or work with community partners to coordinate the delivery of high-quality inservice training to staff, stAct as the strategic planner for the agency.Students, or families

  • Draft policies and procedures for school. Promote collaboration and team building among faculty.

  • Actively participate as a crucial member of a student support team, 504 Team, and IEP team

  • Develop and maintain all fiscal policies and procedures.

  • Manage all agency grants ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and grant specific award and budget terms.

  • Provide orientation, training and evaluation of fiscal staff.

  • Maintain current, and develop new, community partnerships (e.g., CBNO, STAR or others) Tier II. This role requires the creativity to collaborate with students and staff to develop the most meaningful tier II programming for our specific school community. Possibilities may include, but are not limited to: 

    • Conduct small group workshops on specific topics for students (e.g., stress management, sexual harassment, mental health) 

    • Work with mentor groups/classes on a wellness curriculum 

    •  Provide case management for students receiving Tier II services (at EPAC or in the community)

    • Check-in/Check-out student mentorship 

  • Conduct risk assessments 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in education, curriculum development, education finance or other state government financial operations

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) 

  • Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills in working with children and adults 

  • Proficient in Google suite, accounting software, and all Microsoft Office programs.  

  • Highly organized and meticulous about records, documentation, and accuracy

  • Speaks French

  • Master's degree

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • School work experience

  • Experience in French immersion education. 

  • Fluency in the French language

  • Knowledge of local Cajun and Indian French dialects and bayou culture

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, administration, accounting, finance, counseling, or related field

  • Minimum 5 years of job related experience 

  • Experience managing a team along with knowledge of collecting, analyzing, and reporting data

  • Ability to draft monthly financial reports  

This position includes all benefits afforded to Louisiana State employees including a choice of one of five Medical benefit plans with options of additional supplemental insurance plans. This position also qualifies for participation in the Louisiana State Teachers’ Retirement plan.
